A1. We offer a free service to anyone seeking advice, information and support for an alcohol or gambling dependency.
A2. You cannot stop a family member or friend misusing. You can help recognise issues and help prepare to deal with the issue. We can offer you support to learn about coping strategies and dealing with risk associated with alcohol misuse or dependency issues.
A3. There is some evidence to suggest that Complementary Therapies help reduce stress and cravings, help retrieve healthy sleep patterns and build confidence with the client. Adsis can provide Auricular (ear) Acupuncture. This alternative therapy can help to release symptoms from withdrawal of Alcohol. For more information contact us.
A4. Adsis offers some evening and Saturday appointments, but these are variable depending on location. Please phone for more details.
A5. Whether you have a problem will depend on various factors e.g. It might not be just the amount you drink that effects your risk factors. Alcohol is a problem if it is causing difficulties for you or those around you. Why don't you think about some of the following questions:
- How often do you have a drink containing alcohol?
- How many drinks containing alcohol do you have on a typical day when you are drinking?
- Have people annoyed you by criticising your drinking?
- Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking?
- Have you ever had a drink first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or get rid of a hang-over?

A6. A binge drinker is a man who consumes 8 or more units in a session and a woman who consumes 6 or more units in a session.
A7. Our services can provide you with prompt advice and information and activities to help you manage your drinking or risk factors. Depending on your specific need we may offer you an appointment or our open access drop in.
Adsis is committed to providing a prompt response to your request for treatment, however if sometimes this means that you are to be referred to another agency we have little or no control of their waiting times.
