Support / Treatment Options

Adsis can help in a number of different ways, for example:

  • Advice & Information – We have a range of leaflets which are available to view online.  Please click here to view the full range.  Some of these leaflets also contain advice on how you can help yourself.  We can also give telephone advice and online support following assessment.

We prefer people to telephone the service for support, however we understand some people may prefer to contact us via email.  If you would like to email us please do so at advice@adsis.org.uk

  • Assessment (including assessment for detoxification) - Assessment of your needs in relation to Alcohol can take place in a number of ways, for example by telephone or via one of our open access sessions.  An assessment is important to establish what you are drinking and how this effects your life to help you to set achievable goals to reduce or achieve abstinence.
  • Structured Support - Most people are able to reduce or achieve abstinence themselves.  Sometimes it is helpful if people attend support sessions to help achieve this.  Our sessions with clients are structured and help them to set effective goals, look at the reasons why they drink and manage their lifestyles.
  • Relapse Prevention - When you have either reduced your drinking to a safer level or if you have achieved abstinence it is important to find out ways to help sustain this.  This is called relapse prevention.  Adsis can provide a relapse prevention package in a number of different ways, including, telephone or individual support or group work.
  • Support for Concerned Others - (family & friends) – It can be difficult when a friend or family member is having a problem with alcohol.  Try to focus on the changes in the alcohol user's behaviour.  It is important to remember that you are not to blame for someone else's alcohol use.  We provide telephone or individual support.  Please go to the resource section to download a leaflet.

The level of your drinking will determine the help that Adsis provides.  Adsis gives help through our vast range of projects that are there to provide support for many people who are referred or who self refer or are receiving support from us via a court order.
